Social Skills Groups
Our social skills groups provide a safe place for families and children to learn and practice skills such as attention to task, participation, and social interactions that are necessary for successful participation in larger community settings.
**We are not offering any social skills groups at this time. If you are interested in participating in a group, please fill out this interest form and we will notify you when one is available.**
RhythmSong is an interactive, group music-making program where children with disabilities can practice social skills in an environment set up for success. Activities will use instruments such as drums, egg shakers, boomwhackers, and resonator bells, as well as experiences with movement and chanting.
Pulse (Level 1): staying on task, following directions, participating, waiting, communicating to others, impulse control
Groove (Level 2): turn taking, conversational skills, listening to others, making choices
Jam (Level 3): cooperative ensemble play, compromising to reach agreement, resolving conflict, respecting ideas of others. This level will culminate in a performance of an ensemble piece arranged by the group members.
$250 for ten week session of one hour classes. Minimum of 3, maximum of 6 students per group.
